Our seaside Country Hotel, located close to my fathers farm has 32 rooms, all with private bathroom. At our restaurant you can enjoy evening buffet with fresh fish and more local food. We want our Hotel to become your relaxed home away from home where you can step out and enjoy or Hiking area or just visit the puffins and pure nature at every step.
Álfheimar offers guided hiking and walking tours from the Guesthouse every day during the summer season. You can choose from 1-6 days. Our extraordinary area has become a paradise for hikers, with local people marking numerous trails for hikers.
Puffins Paradise
About 10,000 pairs of puffins nest every summer in Borgarfjörður. This is probably the easiest and safest place to watch puffins in Iceland. There are a shelter and wooden platforms where you can get really close to the puffins without the risk of falling into a burrow or down a cliff. You can see puffins nestling here from mid-April to mid-August.

I stayed here when I was doing a G Adventures tour and out of all the places we stayed this was probably one of my favourites. The rooms were huge with beautiful views of the fjord and they were also SO CLEAN! I felt very safe and cozy here. The staff (which I assume is the family who owns the guest house) we're so friendly and welcoming. The dinner they made for us was fresh fish they had caught that morning and it was delicious. The chef was so happy to see us and cheered us all. There is a stop near by where you can see hundreds of puffins too! I would recommend this guest house to everyone I know.

Very remote and worth the drive on gravel roads, the scenery to get there is like no other. The tiny village is like the place in Doc Martin series. We enjoyed over four hours perched by the sea side watching puffins landing and nesting. Rooms are clean, comfortable, plenty of hot water for a shower. Looking out on the nature even while laying in bed is just an awesome experience! Just few steps along the sea to the reception /restaurant for freshly made porridge, eggs and many other yummy delicate fixing to start the day off. The welcoming owner and staff is just what makes this place special.
